The event was Evoé’s end of year student presentation. Evoé is a theatre and dance school in Lisbon, and the show was put together by director Pablo Fernando.
Photographing live shows brings very particular challenges. The main one being the poor and constantly changing light conditions. I didn’t have a chance to watch the rehearsals, so all had to be done as it happened. I knew I’d have to bump up my ISO, lower my shutter speed, and open as wide as possible. As predicted, the light was poor, so I did the best I could.
It was a great event. Some of the students are really promising actors, and I can’t wait to see what they do next. These events are very important to give them experience before a live audience, and they were all smiling at the end.
Also, being part of a team is something I like a lot. The video crew was great and we worked together very well. We’re already talking about collaborating further in other projects.
