A while ago, a good friend of mine told me about an abandoned factory outside of Lisbon, which would be great for a photoshoot. I was immediately interested and made arrangements with him and a friend of his to go there and make some pictures.
The place is not in very good shape, having been abandoned for a number of years. There are pieces of glass and wood around, and also places from which you can fall. Getting a picture is not worth hurting yourself, so pay attention to that. In this case, all went well.
I took two lenses: my 24-70 f/2.8 and my 50mm f/1.8. I find both great for portraits, but the 50mm, even being very cheap and not high quality, gave me great images. I really like this lens.
We moved from place to place, and made several experiments, some more successful than others. We ended up with a set of images I really enjoy.
Finding and exploring new places is a great way to refresh your portfolio. Do things you’ve never done before, experiment and the results will show.
