Photographing in natural light is one of my favorite ways to do it. Natural light has got a certain quality and ambiance that is very hard to replicate in a studio. And sometimes you’re not supposed to. They’re two different things.
At times you will be faced with shooting at noon, when the sun is straight up in the sky. This is the worst light possible, because it is unflattering and creates ugly shadows under the model’s eyes, as well as too strong highlights on the hair.
In this video, fashion photographer Lindsay Adler takes us through several scenarios of shooting in these conditions. The use of shade and a reflectors are a couple of tricks that will immensely improve your images. Enjoy.
