DPS is a wonderful resource for digital photography. It has countless articles, tips, and reviews. But it also has great eBooks. I had read their previous two (Photo Nuts and Bolts, and The Essential Guide to Portrait Photography) and liked them a lot. Yesterday I finished reading their latest, “Transcending Travel”, by Mitchell Kanashkevich. Michael is a travel photographer. He shares his knowledge, practical tips, and great photos in an accessible language.
The book is divided into four main sections:
• Preparation: advice on preparing for your trip
• Composition: how to communicate effectively to those who view your images through principles of photographic composition.
• Light: how to use light creatively to tell your stories, communicate your emotion and evoke emotions in others.
• Making Photos: walks readers through numerous aspects involved in the making of a good travel photograph.
The thing I liked most about the book is that it balances technical aspects of photography, with specific travel tips. This makes it a very complete book. I highly recommend it.
